A pregnant librarian walks into a bar...

Today I feel like I dressed a little ::too:: much like a librarian.  The only thing that I need to really complete the look is my cat eye glasses, and my hair in a bun.  But alas, none of those things happened, so I suppose I'm safe.  :)  I've enjoyed dressing the bump here lately.  It's not far off from my regular style, which is fabo, and since it's chillier out also, I get to revel in the cardigans, layers, scarves, and hats.

Tomorrow we will be entering the 37th week of pregnancy!  Woo!  I can hardly believe it.  There is still so much to do, but at this point, my focus is to get the apartment clean.  We will inevitably have visitors within the next month or so, and a clean place to come home to and "entertain" will be much appreciated!  So that's the goal.  And with very little to do this weekend, it almost seems feasible.  Penny's room will come along when it is time.  And all of her little things will be sorted and put away the way nature intended.  And life will be good.

Life is good right now actually.

She is still incredibly active!  Yesterday was the most active she has been in awhile, and at one point, I had G feeling my belly and "whoa-ing" at how much she was rolling around/pushing her elbows against my belly/practicing yoga in there.  I love it.  She is crazy (in a most endearing sense), and I am already falling in love with her personality!  Whenever we get to see her via sonogram, all of the nurses comment about how active she is, and I love seeing all of the faces she makes.  She was sticking her tongue out at our last appointment, and before that, she was pursing her lips and smiling.  And she has the hiccups almost daily.  Everything about it has been amazing!

Doctors are talking about inducing at 38.5 to 39 weeks, which would put us in the April 4th to April 11th range.  Which means that we could meet Miss Penny as early as next Friday.  Eeeep!  Gary and I have really been talking about it and have come to the conclusion that it just needs to be us at the hospital and that when we are ready to take visitors, we will call everyone at that point.  Everything I've heard stresses the importance of baby bonding time right after birth and I (personally) don't want the stress of worrying about people out in the waiting room.  Just my personal belief.  It will be such an overwhelming experience, and I really want to be able to focus on our little family.  :)

35:35

Today I am 35 weeks pregnant, and we have just 35 days to go (i love it when little details like this happen by the way).  Wow!  I cannot believe how fast time is going by.  We still have so much left to do.  Lol.  To get you all caught up, pregnancy has treated me well!  I have had very few complications, other than being diabetic, and I feel like I have just actually started really showing within the last month.  I am still getting around well (meaning that I don't feel like I am waddling), and am still fairly comfortable.  I am finding myself waking up more times during the night, and trying to get vertical after laying down in bed or on the sofa is proving to be more of a challenge every day.  But I do it.
We have started going to the doctor twice a week, as of this week.  Because of the diabetes and the fact that she was already measuring 5 lbs 2 oz two weeks ago, they want to keep a closer watch and make sure that all is well on there.  It is reassuring to feel her moving, and kinda exciting to be able to keep tabs on her so frequently.

Baby P at 28 weeks!

Today is our last of four showers.  The amazing people at G's work have rallied and are going to shower us with gifts!  I'm excited to meet everyone!  And I'm also excited to get everything home and put away/put in the baby stuff storage area.  We don't have the nursery ready yet.  I am fine with this as much as she will be living in our room for the first few months, but I am starting to stress about having a place to put everything.  We do have the crib and mattress, a bassinet for our room, and the ever-important stroller and car seat system, as well as enough clothes to cover her first year!  So now, my mission is to get it all washed and put away into the dresser that I am hoping to magically find, purchase, and get home this weekend.  Which means that space will need to be made in her room for such a piece of furniture.  Oh, and I also want a shelf.  I am excited about getting everything in place and deco'd!

I am at the point in my pregnancy where I am starting to think really hard about the logistics.  I have finally prepped my hospital bag checklist, which means that I can start gathering everything and getting it into the bag.  That will be a good thing to check off the list!  It is amazing what your body goes through, and the list of things it could need. to recover is equally impressive.  I want to be prepared, so I think it is a good thing that's am reading as much as I can about delivery.  I need hubby to read up on it too so that we can both be on the same page.  And I am starting to get nervous about the whole delivery thing.  I keep telling everyone and myself that our delivery method is still up in the air, and will be determined by how she is measuring and doing in there.  If she gets to the point where she measures over 9.5 lbs, they will start talking about a c-section.  Otherwise, the plan is to go naturally.  I've been doing a lot of research here lately and while I know that people have babies every minute, imagining the pain and recovery has me on edge.  I hope and pray for a good labor and a healthy little girl!

And then the games will begin!  Lol.  I already have ideas for birth announcements and cannot wait to start the photo shoots!  She is going to be a well-documented little one!  :)

26 weeks (and growing!)

I can't believe how fast time flies by.  Before I was pregnant, I couldn't fathom the emotions I'd feel or what I would experience at the different milestones.  It's amazing!

I am 26 weeks and a day pregnant.  Six days from the third trimester (eeep!) and 97 days away from our baby's due date.  The final countdown.  :)

The weekend before Thanksgiving we had a Gender Reveal Party.  I could not wait to find out if Baby P was a 'he' or 'she', so we planned and hosted a little soiree for out closest peeps so that we could all find out together.  We had the envelope sitting on our dining room table for two weeks (they did a sonogram earlier than expected), and although people thought we were crazy, we didn't take a peak.  There is nothing better than an honest reaction, and plus, who am I to ruin the thrill of a surprise.  Lol.  And so we waited.
When the apartment was clean and the party finally started, we went through the motions of silly games, obligatory mingling and small talk, and then it was cake time!  I was nervous, but incredibly excited!  We cut into it... and then we saw it!  PINK!  Cue the happy tears of joy and gasps for breath. We are having a little baby girl!

Life since then has been filled with happy!  I am truly enjoying planning a nursery, picking out everything for the registries, and just trying to prepare for what our lives are going to evolve into... change, awesome change for the better!
And I am loving her already.  I am amazed every time I feel her move, I smile.  G has even been able to feel her.  Last night we both fell asleep in the living room and didn't move to bed until about 2am.  Well it was also storming, and I had grabbed a quick snack of a chocolate covered cookie, and then I laid down to sleep.  And then she decided that it was time to tap dance.  I swear she must've kicked at least 100 times before eventually drifted off.  She had never been that active before, so that was awesome!

This morning we woke up to more storm, and more kicking, and G got to feel her.  One of the best way to spend a Saturday morning is watching the trees in a winter storm, and laying next to my hubby while our baby kicks her "good morning".  I think we are going to have a very active little one.  :)

100 days until our baby girl is due!  (Taken 1.8.2014)
